GHMA | LAW Attorneys Earn 2027 Best Lawyers Recognition in Family Law and Family Law Mediation

GHMA | LAW is pleased to announce that attorneys Janet H. Amburgey and Patrick S. McCroskey have again been selected for inclusion in the 2027 edition of The Best Lawyers in America®, with both attorneys earning recognition in Family Law and Family Law Mediation.
The addition of Family Law Mediation to both attorneys’ 2027 recognition is particularly meaningful for a firm whose work includes not only advocating for clients in complex family law matters, but also helping families and their attorneys resolve disputes through mediation.
Janet H. Amburgey Marks Nine Consecutive Years
Janet H. Amburgey is recognized in:

The 2027 edition marks Janet’s ninth consecutive year in The Best Lawyers in America. She was first recognized for Family Law in 2019, while 2027 marks her first recognition in Family Law Mediation.
A North Carolina State Bar Board Certified Specialist in Family Law, Janet focuses her practice exclusively on family law. Her work encompasses divorce and separation, child custody and support, equitable distribution, spousal support, domestic violence matters, adoption, and other issues affecting families.
Janet also serves as a mediator, helping parties and their attorneys work toward negotiated resolutions of family law disputes.
Patrick S. McCroskey Reaches 21 Years of Best Lawyers Recognition
Patrick S. McCroskey is also recognized in:

- Family Law Mediation
Patrick has been continuously recognized by Best Lawyers for Family Law since 2007, making 2027 his 21st consecutive year of inclusion. Like Janet, he adds Family Law Mediation to his Best Lawyers recognition for the first time this year.
His record of Best Lawyers recognition also includes being named the Family Law “Lawyer of the Year” for Asheville four times, in 2015, 2017, 2020 and 2025.
Patrick is a North Carolina State Bar Board Certified Specialist in Family Law and a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. His practice is limited to divorce, marital relations and family law, and he also provides family financial mediation services to other family lawyers and their clients.
Recognition for Both Advocacy and Resolution
