GHMA | LAW Partners Recognized in 2025 Business North Carolina Legal Elite

GHMA | LAW is thrilled to announce that partners Janet Amburgey and Patrick McCroskey have been named to the 2025 Business North Carolina Legal Elite for Family Law. This annual accolade is one of the state’s most prestigious legal honors, determined by peer nominations from attorneys across North Carolina.

This year, Janet received the highest number of votes statewide in Family Law, earning her a place in the Legal Elite Hall of Fame. She is the first Family Law attorney from Western North Carolina to achieve this distinction since the award’s inception in 2002. In fact, only eight other Asheville attorneys across all practice areas have ever been inducted into the Hall of Fame. This milestone highlights Janet’s unparalleled expertise, dedication to her clients, and the respect she has garnered statewide. A Peer-Driven and Unique Award

The Business North Carolina Legal Elite is based on a single question:

“If you could not take a case, who would you most likely refer it to?”

This direct peer assessment eliminates external influence, making it a true reflection of a lawyer’s standing within the legal community. Janet’s Hall of Fame induction underscores the trust and admiration her peers have for her exceptional abilities in family law.

A Legacy of Excellence

Both Janet Amburgey and Patrick McCroskey have been included in the Legal Elite for many years. They are Board Certified Specialists in Family Law and have each been selected to North Carolina Super Lawyers and Best Lawyers in America. Patrick is a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, while Janet currently serves as the immediate past president of the Buncombe County Bar, where she has made a decade-long contribution to legal governance.

Janet’s Hall of Fame recognition is especially remarkable considering the dynamics of rural and small-town legal practice. While metropolitan areas like Raleigh and Charlotte account for more than half of the state’s attorneys, Janet’s reputation as an outstanding family law attorney has extended far beyond Western North Carolina, where she exclusively practices.

Join us in congratulating Janet and Patrick on these well-deserved honors. Their dedication to excellence continues to set a high standard for family law attorneys across the state.
