GHMA | LAW is proud to announce that partner Janet Amburgey has been selected for inclusion in the inaugural North Carolina Legal 250, recognizing her among the state’s most accomplished and influential attorneys.
The Legal 250 was established by North Carolina Lawyers Weekly to recognize attorneys who have distinguished themselves through professional excellence, leadership, service to the profession, and meaningful contributions to their communities. Inclusion in the inaugural class is a significant distinction and reflects a career built on sustained achievement and peer respect.
Janet is a Board Certified Specialist in Family Law and a Certified Family Financial Mediator whose practice is devoted exclusively to family law. For more than fifteen years, she has helped individuals and families navigate complex issues involving divorce, child custody, support, and equitable distribution, while also serving attorneys and their clients as a mediator in family financial disputes.
The Legal 250 recognition follows a series of recent professional honors that reflect Janet’s standing within the North Carolina legal community. In 2025, she was inducted into the Business North Carolina Legal Elite Hall of Fame, a distinction reserved for attorneys who have achieved the highest level of peer recognition within their practice area. She was also recently recognized by North Carolina Lawyers Weekly as a Leader in the Law, an honor celebrating attorneys whose careers demonstrate exceptional leadership, service, and professional accomplishment.
Beyond her legal practice, Janet has dedicated herself to strengthening the profession. She served more than a decade in leadership positions with the 28th Judicial District Bar, culminating in her term as President. Through that service, she helped support one of North Carolina’s most active and respected local bar associations. Her statewide involvement includes service with the North Carolina Bar Association Family Law Section, and she currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Mediation Center, helping advance access to mediation and conflict resolution resources in Western North Carolina.
Janet’s career has also been recognized through inclusion in Best Lawyers in America, North Carolina Super Lawyers, Business North Carolina Legal Elite, and Martindale-Hubbell’s peer-review ratings. Together, these recognitions reflect not only professional excellence, but a longstanding commitment to clients, colleagues, and the legal profession.
Please join us in congratulating Janet Amburgey on her inclusion in the inaugural North Carolina Lawyers Weekly Legal 250.
